Is it okay to try out pronouns before I am sure I am trans?
A friend offered to call me they/them for a while and I said yes, now I feel like I started something I cannot take back. Am I allowed to experiment, or does trying it out mean I have to be "officially" something?
Trying them on is exactly how you find out. There is no admission process — pronouns are not a contract you sign.
Ask your friend to use them for two weeks. Notice what it feels like when it lands right, and what it feels like when it does not. Both answers are data. If they stop feeling right, you say "thanks, back to she/her please" and everyone moves on with their lives — genuinely, nobody keeps score.
The only way to lose here is to never test anything and stay stuck in the question mark.
Low-cost experiments are your friends: a different name in a game or group chat, clothes in a different section of the store, a photo edit. None of it is a commitment; all of it tells you something. People who are "just curious" usually feel neutral after a month. People where it clicks feel relief. Watch for the relief.
