Non-binary
A person whose gender identity falls outside the male/female binary. Non-binary people may identify as both male and female, neither, a third gender, or as fluid between genders. Non-binary is an umbrella term that includes many specific identities such as genderfluid, agender, demigender, and others.
Non-binary people may use they/them pronouns, binary pronouns (he/him or she/her), neopronouns, or any combination. Being non-binary is about identity, not presentation — there is no "right way" to look non-binary.
Non-binary identities have existed across cultures for millennia, including hijra in South Asia, two-spirit in many Indigenous North American cultures, and muxe in Zapotec culture.
