Gender Euphoria

The joy a person feels when their gender is seen, named, and affirmed correctly. Gender euphoria is the positive counterpart to gender dysphoria — the happiness of being recognized as your true gender.

Euphoria can come from small things: being called the right name, wearing affirming clothing, hearing the right pronouns, seeing your body change, or simply being treated as who you are. It can also come from big milestones like legally changing your name or starting hormone therapy.

Gender euphoria is important because it demonstrates that gender-affirming care and social recognition aren't about "curing" people — they're about enabling joy. Some trans and non-binary people discover their identity through euphoria first, long before any experience of dysphoria.
