Sapphic

An umbrella term for women and non-binary people who are attracted to women. "Sapphic" comes from Sappho, the ancient Greek poet of Lesbos who wrote love poetry to women.

Sapphic includes lesbians, bisexual women, pansexual women, and non-binary people who feel a connection to womanhood or feminine identity and love women. It is often preferred by people who find specific labels too narrow or who want an inclusive term for wlw (women loving women) experiences.

Sapphic is both an identity label and a cultural marker — sapphic literature, art, and community spaces celebrate love between women in all its forms.
