Is there a queer-friendly church, or is that an oxymoron?
I miss having a spiritual community but the last three churches made it clear where they stood on "the issue". Am I looking for something that does not exist?
They exist — affirming congregations list themselves in denominational directories, and many wear it openly on their homepage rather than burying it. Expect imperfect people, just like anywhere; the difference is whether the doctrine leaves room for you. One visit tells you more than their website ever will.
I found mine through a friend of a friend rather than a search engine — smaller communities were warmer than the big ones, and somebody sat with me the first Sunday instead of leaving me in a row. Ask around in queer spaces; half of us have a recommendation.
