Can a landlord refuse to rent to me because I am transgender?
A viewing went fine until they saw my documents. Suddenly the place was "no longer available". I do not know if I have a case or if I am just going to keep hearing excuses.
In many places housing discrimination on the basis of gender identity is illegal — check your local tenant union or equality body, both usually have free advice lines. Keep the message thread and every date: what you have sounds like a refusal, and the paper trail is what makes it actionable.
Document everything from now on: names, times, what was said, and the exact wording of any "sorry, it's gone" message. One landlord can claim coincidence; a pattern across landlords builds a case even when each individual excuse looks innocent on its own.
